Experience, Background and Services:
In Transnistria region of republic of Moldova, there is not a single organization except “Interaction” to carry out large information campaigns on the issue of human trafficking and human rights to receive appropriate help and protection. In the event the given project is not carried out, then, in the near future, the number of the victims will increase and the victims will not be able to find support in their own country, and undergo a rehabilitation and reintegration course, as the Transnistrian system of social protection does not attribute the victims of human trafficking and the representatives of at-risk groups to the group of socially disadvantaged people. “Interaction” public organization has extensive experience in counselling by phone and providing assistance to victims of human trafficking and domestic violence at any stage. Our work is based on methods and techniques of intra-sectoral interaction, which have been elaborated during implementation and development of the program on protection and support of trafficked victims as well as on prevention of human trafficking and other social risks, with a special approach to Transnistria and the existing political situation. During more than 10 years the hotline for prevention trafficking in human beings and illegal migration has received more than 12000 calls. In 2016 the Hotline received more than 924 calls (139 more than in 2015), of which 159 (17,2%) were related to counseling SOS-cases and provision of assistance under the new 14 SOS-cases. Operators of Trustline received more than 1161 calls, 294 of them – anonymous counseling for victims of domestic violence and their families by phone, and 181 calls – regarding 56 SOS-cases taken in operation current year or earlier. Provision of psycho-social and legal assistance are part of any individual plan for victims and their relatives/family members. The experience shows that the victims of trafficking and domestic violence are reluctant, for various reasons, to seek help from the police, preferring to address to the social services.
