Description:
Awaken increases awareness and education about the issue of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) and provides housing and restoration for its victims.

Experience, Background and Services:
Founded in 2011, Awaken is a faith-based non-profit organization located in Reno, Nevada. Our mission is to increase awareness and education surrounding the issue of commercial sexual exploitation (CSE) and to provide housing and restoration for its victims. Our vision is to transform our community with the ultimate goal of eradicating CSE and to restore victims to their fullest potential. Through our programs and outcomes, we aspire to be an inspirational model for other communities.

Awaken’s key programming falls under three main categories – prevention, restoration, and city transformation. Our comprehensive model puts victims at the center of what we do – helping survivors restore their freedom, preventing more victims, and partnering with community stakeholders to stop traffickers wherever they operate.

In 2016, Awaken served 104 clients. This year we are on track for another record-breaking number of women and girls served. After six years in operation, the agency is working diligently to deliver the most effective services to a growing number of women and youth.
