Description:
VICTIM IDENTIFICATION SPECIALIST AND FRONTLINE PROFESSIONALS TRAINER • Main activities and responsibilities I work closely with local government agencies and NGO’s in helping possible cases of trafficking victims, including working alongside UNHCR and other frontline professionals on the mainland, as well as on the islands, to identify the possible vulnerable cases.By creating relationships with local authorities in the detention centres, I now have access to visit these centres weekly, allowing me to talk to detainees and source potential cases. Alongside this, on a weekly basis, I visit a local clinic where registered prostitutes are medically examined, monitoring trends and identifying potential victims. In August 2017, I developed a training workshop that was tailored to the specific needs of frontline professionals, on how to recognise human trafficking victims. With assistance from a colleague, I run these workshops twice per month for between 30-100 frontline professionals per session. These workshops are usually made up of border police, social workers, psychologists, doctors, immigration officers and asylum officers.
