I am an independent social sustainability and ethical trade professional with a track record of successful development and implementation of due diligence programmes for Modern Slavery and Ethical Trade in retail and food supply chains.
Experience, Background and Services:
Now working as a consultant, I have 20 years’ experience in food and retail supply chains developing and implementing sustainability and ethical trade compliance programmes, including compliance to the UK Modern Slavery Act. Responsibilities have included:
• Delivering company compliance to the “UK Modern Slavery Act” within own operations and supply chains.
• Experience in the development of Modern Slavery Act statements and delivering on commitments.
• Developing and implementing human rights due diligence framework, including mitigation measures for modern slavery.
• Developing internal programmes including risk assessment to eliminate and prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in supply chains.
• Implementing programmes for supply chain transparency.
• Management of ethical trade and sustainability; developing strategy, business Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), critical success factors and working with technical and commercial teams in delivering strategy and achieving retail business targets on sustainability and ethical trade.
• Working collaboratively with retail teams developing UK market ethical trade strategy and sustainability commodity commitments.
• Company project leader for Oxfam’s Poverty Footprint study “Exploring the links between international business and poverty reduction”.
• Developing and leading projects to address key social sustainability risks such as living wage, women’s empowerment and livelihoods.
