Experience, Background and Services:
For more than 43 years, the Movement Against Rape and Incest (MCVI) has been providing support and accompaniment services to female victims of sexual assault in Montreal, Canada. Funded by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, our organisation is an important resource for women seeking to overcome the consequences of sexual violence. Over the last 16 years, we have developed a recognized expertise in providing direct support services to women with precarious immigration status in Canada, who have experienced various forms of gender-based violence, including human trafficking, female genital mutilation, domestic violence, collective rape and forced marriage.
Direct psychosocial services are provided in French, English and Spanish. Other activities include advocacy, prevention initiatives, networking and collation building.
