Description:
Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing as a therapist with special training in treatment for survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation.
Experience, Background and Services:
My work within the anti-trafficking field began in 2013 researching and providing community awareness. Since that time I have been involved in anti-trafficking efforts across multiple settings including community education, multi-disciplinary coalitions, research coding, case management, program development, and mental health therapy. I have worked clinically with survivors in adolescence through middle adulthood providing individual, group, and family therapy. Additionally, I have experience working in a medical setting covering assessment and resourcing for human trafficking patients. I am trained in the My Life My Choice prevention curriculum and received training by Rachel Lloyd from GEMS NY on the Victim, Survivor, Leader Model. In 2019 I spoke at the JuST Conference on the unique service needs for familial trafficking victims. I have also partnered with organizations working with the legal sex trade and worked with international anti-trafficking organizations in India and Greece. I am an Advocate Member of the Global Association of Human Trafficking Scholars, a member of the Mental Health Council with HEAL, and a member of the Michigan Abolitionist Project (MAP).
I tailor my healing-centered approach to each client based on their unique needs. I believe healing thrives within a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship. I draw from a variety of modalities including: TF-CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Strengths-Based Theory, Internal Family Systems, and somatic processing. Throughout the course of therapy I work alongside clients to identify effective tools that reduce suffering and increase life’s meaning and joy.
